Bottom Line Coach Strategic Plan Development & Execution Process

Step 1: Clarify and document your vision. – We begin with the end in mind. So my first step will be to work with you to develop and document a clear, compelling and attainable vision for your business.

For instance –

  • Where do you want your business to be in five years?
  • Specifically what will that look like?
  • What will it mean to your stakeholders? To you?

Your documented vision will give you a point of reference for evaluating all aspects of your business. You’ll make smarter and faster decisions when you evaluate every choice by asking, “Does this take me closer to or farther from the attainment of my vision?”

Step 2: In this step I’ll work closely with you and your executive team to develop and document a strategic plan for attaining your vision. – In step one the focus was on the future. In step two we’ll start by assessing the present. For example, I’ll lead you and your team through an in-depth discussion and analysis of such issues as –

  • Where does your business stand today – both internally, with all your stakeholders and externally in the marketplace?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses in the marketplace?
  • Where are the key opportunities for your business?
  • What are the most serious threats your business faces?
  • What markets do you want to be in and why?
  • Determine you Unique Value Proposition. What is your marketing message?

I’ll question anything and everything that I feel is pertinent to the success of your business. And I’ll challenge you and your team to justify every answer, defend every assumption. No canned responses allowed!

Next, we’ll take the insights and intelligence gathered from this session and organize it into five to eight critical goal categories to focus on for the next twelve to eighteen months. Through additional discussion, debate and brainstorming, we’ll –

  • Develop clear and specific goals for each category
  • Determine possible obstacles to goal achievement
  • Highlight the benefits of achieving, and the consequences of not achieving, each goal
  • Determine action steps and assign datelines and responsibilities for goal completion.

The process usually takes about 40 hours and can be customized to fit your schedule. When completed you’ll have a documented strategic plan that –

  • Clearly and succinctly articulates your vision and direction
  • Ties departmental goals and individual compensation to plan achievement
  • Promotes action instead of reaction
  • Provides a benchmark for evaluating your business
